i don't know which is better.
all new hypertechs are around 300. watch ebay and all forums for used.
just make sure its been 'returned to stock', as it will only program one truck at a time.

there was one on ebay awhile back that nobody bid on.
your 2001 will need part number 50006

i just bought a used one for 150.
i am unable to adjust my tire size and i'm bummed out about it. it won't give me the prompt for it.
so far i've had to run 91 octane to avoid pinging, but the truck has life now instead of being a pig. so i like it.

edit. i have the 3923 plugs and 180 thermostat riding in the passenger seat as possible solutions to the ping but the truck has not self installed them yet.

I went with a hypertech, got it cheaper that I would have a superchips, $135 shipped off ebay. I'm not using at the moment because of even worse pinging with it than without it. I might try that 91 to see how different the truck runs.

I have a hypertech, and the difference between stock and programmed was like night and day, but i also previously had the "death flash". I have not experienced any pinging at all and i still have the 195 t-stat and have the programmer set on the high octane setting, using 93.

I just used the Hypertech. I too had the death flash (just learned what that was). Left it programmed for 87 octane and so far no ping. I also still have the 195 T-Stat. Has made some difference feels more like it did when it was new. I was able to reprogram for tire size to correct the speedometer. Haven't put enough miles on yet to make a complete analysis of the benefits. Best price I found for a new one when I bought it was at www.autoanything.comnoticed that price did increase right after I purchased. Shipping was very fast, had in 2 days.

I have the Superchips and i like it ive got it set to improve gas milage however when i first got it I tried it on the 91 octane setting holy crap that was like driving somone elses truck. After several tanks and less tire tread decided to go for gas milage. It does allow you ot ajust the tire pressure and change spedo for larger than stock tires. Very easy to use I have never had any problems with it. other thatn have to reprogram it back and forth twice this summer for a ac repair and then a heater core. I got mine from a buddie that bought it for his 96 5.9 but it didnt program his so he sold it to me for 250.

I have a hypertech. Paid around $250 new. Set for 87 octane, set for tire size, raised top end speed.
I haven't had any pinging issues.
I have only taken it for one road trip since I set it and it was a two hundred mile trip with some city driving in the middle. Some fairly hilly roads. Ran against the wind going there. Watched a ball game. The wind changed during the game and ran against the wind coming home. Fairly strong winds with tumbleweeds crossing the road. Made just over 19 MPG. I'm happy.

what would you recommend out of the Mopar Performance PCM, A programmer, and a Jet Chip http://www.autotrucktoys.com/ram/Dod...cts-C2911.aspx

I assume the PCM, or programmer

Jet chips I hear are no good
Programmer for stock/close to stock vehicles
Mopar PCM for heavily moded vehicles

About the Jet chip, on my PCM there is a plug that says JET POWER CONTROL MODULE, does that mean I have a jet chip or is it just a normal PCM?

Does it look like this.

The jet chip plugs inline at your PCM. If it looks something like tht then you might have one.
