Superchips or hypertech?
ORIGINAL: Ramdamit98
It shouldn't be hurting anything. A buddy of mine has one and he says his truck runs a little smoother with it. He doesn't notice any performance gains but he thinks it runs a little better.
As for the cables the chip is just in-line where the cable goes. You unplug the cables from the chip, unplug the chip from the PCM and then plug the cables backinto the PCM in the spot where the chip was.
I would disconnect the battery while doing it and reset the PCM while the battery is disconnected.
EDIT: It not recommended to use the jet chip and a programmer at the same time, so you'll want totake the jet chip out before using your hypertech again.

I have about 1,000 miles on my Hypertech now... spent $300, set for 87 octane, adjusted tires for my 285's. Pickedup significant power especially towing. Picked up several miles to the gallon... 1,000 miles in appears to be 4MPG. Very pleased; no pinging with everything stock but a K&N filter. $300 bucks well spent.
I've got the Superchips in mine and I like it so far. Hasn't helped on milage but the power increase is always welcome. I guess you don't be a truck for milage anyway. I run mine on the towing setting and haven't had any pinging troubles
