Lousy Headlights
Hi all, first post here! I have a 2000 Ram and the headlights are quite crappy. My GF has a 99 Durango and they are quite similar lights and they are not good either. My question is, is this a normal thing for these trucks or maybe I need new housings? I'm thinking the reflectors have gone out of them. you can barely see where you are going at night. Would'nt want to spend the dough and have them the same. Thanks, Chris.
The standard headlights on these trucks are all crappy. The best mod for the money is to get the headlight assembly out of a Sport model Ram as they came with two headlight bulbs per side as opposed to the standard one. You'll need to uprgrade the wiring harness as well to fit the four lights. Check out http://www.lmctruck.com to see what I'm talking about.
one other thing to check.. i found this out on mine.. is there are more than one fuse for EACH headlite in the ram / durango.. look under the hood in the power box next to the battery.. you will find one for the left headlight and the right headlight.. if one of them is blown.. or both.. your lights will work.. but they will be very dim.. check em.. turn on your lights then pull one at a time.. if it goes even more dim.. they are still good.. try the bulbs.. if there is a cloud over the housing.. try to use like a 400 grit sandpaper and wet sand it.. be careful.. but you can get it looking alot better. .my option would be.. hey this is a great excuse to put some new lights on it (ebay has an awesome set of halo projection headlights for like 150 bucks)
has anyone checked the power to the units? if the Voltage is low the light will be dim. Im gonna chack when i get a chance.
if this is the case i will be able to make a upgraded loom to correct this and run the lights directlt off the batt for full 12v.

Does anyone know if you can tap into the headlight wiring (as well as the reverse light wiring) for auxillary lights without causing any low voltage issues?
