Ya, I don't agree with that. Similar thing is going on in the Mustang world. A company is making an aftermarket bodys for Mustangs. It is similar to companies that make a door, or a quarter panel for a car, except this is the entire body. All you would need is a frame and a drivetrain, and you have a complete car (kinda like a kit car). The concern is that people will go find trashed cars, and replace the body as a single part (like you would if you were replacing a hood or a door or something), and transfer the VIN to the new car, claiming that it just had a single part replaced on it. I don't mind that the body part exists for those who want to build their own, but I don't agree with the VIN transfer. That will devalue really rare cars like Boss 429's and Boss 302's or Shelby's because now all you need is a VIN to own one, using these kit parts to build the rest yourself. It's not the same thing after you do that though, in my opinion. Just as bad as trying to sell a clone off as the original.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a 69' camaro that has been sold at auction that was built 'New'. What I mean is that they bought one of the replica bodies from a company like year one and built a brand new car. I have seen the cost of creating a car from scratch that way, but have seen nothing about one selling. I have been looking into what it would take to build one and put a C5 front subframe, drive train, and suspension in it.

((P.S. I don't plan on tranfering a vin... I just want a kick##s car with all the modern amenities and performance, not to mention A/c!))

I have been watching BJ but must have missed the Hummer.
Dude, do you realize what you just said?

I like to watch Barrett Jackson, but unfortunatly I think it is helping to make the collector car hobby, escpecially muscle cars and pony cars, become out of reach for the average Joe. For example, when Shelby and Boss Mustangs sell for over $200,000, that has a trickle down affect to the rest of the hobby. Next thing you know, Mach 1's that used to be found for less then 10k are all over 30k now. Good luck finding a '67 or '68 fastback for under 20k that isn't a basket case. Any of the good 428 or 390 cars are becoming stupid expensive too. Only thing an average guy can buy these days for less then 10k is a beat up coupe with a straight six or basic 289.

It wasn't that way 5-10 years ago. Back in '99, I picked up my 351 Mach 1 for $8000, and it was in very good shape. Sold it for 12k about 4 years later. If I had hung onto it till today, I could probably have gotten close to 20k for it. No way I could find another one in the shape mine was in when I bought it for $8k today.
Omg LMAO
