Drivers Seat Ripped
Hello, just trying to see if anyone has any advice on replacing/repairing the driver's seat for a '98 Ram. I've looked on Ebay, and checked with junk yards...these seem to be my only options, but the seats are hard to find (and not that cheap). I've got the typical problem where the side of my driver's seat is ripped pretty good, and some foam is coming out. Also, my seat cusion is sinking through the seat frame, and the springs have partially come unattached from the seat. I just need to replace this thing. Any ideas on the best/cheapest way/place to get an OEM replacement seat? Is is possible to just replace the driver's seat, and not the whole front set of seats?
Thanks.
Thanks.
In our work truck we took the seat out and took it to a local guy that does apolstry work and he stripped the original cover off, reinforced the worn area and it's lasted a good 4-5 years, but startin to do same ol thing again
I went to Michaels and got some iron on fabric. it matched the Dodge gray pretty well.
I just cut the peice I needed and took a clothes iron and ironed it on. it held for 4 years.
if you dont like the look you can get a nice seat cover to go over it. But at least it will keep the foam inside the seat and it will only cost you 5-6 bucks

I went to a local upolstry guy that quoted me about $140. He said hes done this truck many times and what happens is the seat foam settles, and the side is loosened up, which starts to wear, and eventually you have a hole. He builds up more foam underneath, orders the fabric straight from dodge, and makes it look like new. I've seen his work, and he does a great job. When it gets a bit worse, and i have money again, probably summer, i'm taking it to him.
well still have a place check 'er out. if the seat cant be repaired replace 'em with some nice leathers.

Good ole' cheapo Seat covers do wonders on preservation, even after a rip already exists but before as well.
Hardest thing was finding matching front + back for under $100.
But, before:

And after:

A bit rumpled and a few crinkles in the material, oh well...
