RE: Mods to help a 1500 pull 14k LBS??
That looks really sweet, any bigger pics?
It makes the world of difference knowing the details. Seems you are within the limits of the 1500after all if the 41 is just over 3000lbs.(too many passengers/gear in bed could push you over) Chances are you trailers curb weight will be similar to the under 4k listed for the 28' below.
The suggestions that Glideman makes will help you out a lot and make it a safer more relaxed pull. Sorry for any grief
Edit, the table didnt copy here well from site I searched so heres a link to the page as well

Opps Looks like I got every one pissed off for nothing. I figured 10k gvwrwas the gross weight of the trailer by its self. Anyways here are a few pics of my 41 and the new project 1967 Camaro Convert SS/RS 4 speed.

I really like that '41!!!!!
My folks have a '41 Ford Super Deluxe (all original, rust-free, 2 door)parked in the shed. I keep offering to buy it but they won't sell it to me 'cause they think it wouldn't be fair to my other siblings! [:@]I keep telling them to take it out of my inheritance....
Looks like that Camaro needs a good wax job!
A good friend of mine has a cool website that deals with first generation Camaro's http://lateral-g.net/

Now that is why I was asking the questions about the actual weight of the trailer itself. There is a big difference between GVW, GVWR, ULW,GVCWRetc. It would seem you are probably under 10,000 lbs.Would not be unreasonable that your unladen trailer is around 5,000 lbs. add to that your cars weight and you are probably a litttle heavy but not nearly as outrageous as the original posting. You still need a weight distribution hitch and sway control it really will help. I now think you might find the SuperSprings to be a product that could work for you. Check them out at http://www.supersprings.com.Ihave them and they work well for me.They are offered by Toyota as an option on their trucks. Installationis very easy and price is reasonable. I kinda figured you were way off on the actual numbers. As I said previously I tow with a similar truck and couldn't imagine it pulling that kind of load. At least not down the highway.

RE: Mods to help a 1500 pull 14k LBS??
The 1500 really does not have the braking capacity to tow those loads.
At the very least you should have one of the best electronic trailer brake units, and it would take an braking expert like Fred Goeske:
http://www.wheeladapter.com/who_is_fred_goeske.asp
to upgrade the brakes to Viper-like level.
Goeske has done this on Dakotas and Durangoes.
Have you thought about that if you have an accident
your insurance company will be able to sue you
for not abiding by the limitations of your policy,
which include staying below your vehicle's rated tow limits,
and may be able to leave all the damages for you to pay?

B4 i post we now have confirmed trailer weight of less than 10k lbs. Sheesh man that's a big friggin difference. woudln't be sooo outragous to bulk up a 1500 to tow less than 10k. I'm still against the idea but i don't feel that with less than 10k you are in danger of killing yourself or others. I think if you buy quality parts don't "jimmy rig" it then you'll be just fine

RE: Mods to help a 1500 pull 14k LBS??
I agree that it is not a smart thing trying to pull that much wait..but 1/2 tons will do a lot more than what you think...ive got a 5th wheel out of a dully in my truck and ive pulled our 5600 lb 16ft flatbed trailer with 120 bales of alfalfa hay that weighed about 75 lbs a peice..of course I had it in 4 Low and never went over 30-35..the truck pretty much stopped on its own just from the low gear..never really had to use the brakes much..and there is not hardly any traffic out here in the middle of nowhere to worry about
I do admit was not the smartest thing to do though

I agree Ross not smart thing to do but at least you were going slow. My biggest concern with this is that he was talking aobut going down the Freeway which really scared me because at that speed anything goes wrong your going to kill yourself and others. I'm still not a big fan of his idea but I don't feel that he is a serious threat to anyones well being as is.
