In about four hours, I will have owned a Dodge for one day. I like everything about the truck except miles per gallon (9mpg highway!!!), and the height of the truck. Having owned Chevys in the past, it's an adjustment. Does anyone know of a lowering kit for a '99 2500 4X4? Don't see one on the web anwhere. Also, if there is one available, anything to be aware of as faras far as screwing up suspension geometry or anything like that? Thanx. Great forum, by the way.

Install nerf bars or some steps.

lowering won't mess stuff up the way lifting will, but still whenever you do suspension work you should get an alignment, just pull the lift blocks and cut the front springs, easiest cheapest drop*

I agree 4x4's and pickups in general escpecially a 3/4 ton were not meant to go low.

How much lower do ya wana go? If ya wana drop it bout an inch or so, ill trade ya a 1500 lol. Don't go lowering it!!

The issue with lowering it is that I use the box EVERY day. And most of the stuff I need to move around weighs a lot! Lifting stuff any more than I have to sucks. I'll crawl under and look for the lift blocks - hopefully it's that easy. Sorry to blaspheme, but my back can only take so much. Otherwise, the truck is awesome. 1999 3/4T leather interior with 40K actual miles. It's like brand new.

Lowering isn't going to be as easy on a 3/4 ton as one would first think. The rear axle will probably have blocks of some form on it but the U-bolts will probably be too long if you remove them (the blocks). If you have a rear sway-bar (many 3/4 tons do) ... you may run into clearance issues ... from a few areas now that I think more about it. The front axle ... whole 'nother issue ... 3/4 tons get their higher stance in the front via stiffer springs. Not sure if you want to mess with that as now you're monkeying with your hauling capacity. The 2500 is substantially heavier than the 1500 (about the same weight as the 1 ton) due to much stouter frames on the bigger trucks (12" vs. 9" on the 1/2 ton).

Stick a crane on her or a lift tailgate.
