misfires and constantly needs new roders
distributor cap rotor...
somebody recently had a thread where the rotor cut a groove inside the cap. he found a rock in the distributor that was causing it to fit improperly. due to the impossible location behind the #$#% motor, he couldn't see it.
i'm guessing....
misfit cap or rotor, not on straight
cracked, broken, cap
bent rotor shaft
too hot coil,
water or other conductive getting inside cap
might try removing throttle body to get a better look. a few bolts and some cables, not too hard to remove.

sounds that it is your brake pads! brake pads bear the brunt of brake operations....when calipers tightens, brake pads are pushed against the disc and retard the motion of the car..A direct contact with rotor, dodge brake pads serves as maintenance item that needed to be replaced regularly...

If we're talking ignition, bent shaft could cause the rotor to break I think, and misfires. Has the engine ever been out of the truck? I've seendistributors broken and bent in engine swaps by hitting the firewall (OK, I was young then) but it's awful hard to bend a distibutor shaft while in the truck and I think it's something else. Did you change the cap and rotor last time it broke?
