Default steering loose

I have a 98 ram 1500 4x4. I've replaced the steering gear box, drag link, tie rods, and steering stablilzer. The steeringisbetter then beforebut there stillmaybe a 2-3 inch play before the wheels turn, it's same either way i turn the wheel. Does anyone know what would be wrong. the only thing i canthink of is thesteering shaft. would the ball joints cause anything like this. Or would adjusting the gear box fix the problem.

Control arm bushings, replace both upper/lower both sides and use polyurethane. This will make a huge difference providing everything else is tight.
