Default 99 1500 5.9 lost all power

Hi!
This is my first time here at the dodge forum, Im norwegian, but I'll do my best to explain my problem in english and hopefully someone will understand what I mean
I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 sport with the 5.9l gas engine. I just had a major tune up on it, changing all the oils, spark plugs and wires and oxygen sensors, even put on a Flowmaster exhaust kit. Drove the truck around today, ran really great until on my way home it started to run rough and lost all power, died down to 30mph and didnt have power. When I put the truck in neutral and revved it, it would stop at 2000 rpm and just make a dark sound, sounding like its flooding in gas or something. below 2000 rpm it runs fine. The exhaust system got really hot around the catalytic converter too, like its getting a really rich gas mixture.
No check engine light
Any help would really be appreciated!
Thanks
Torbjorn

Sounds like a bad converter. I would have it checked out.

That sounds pretty expensive, checked magnaflows webpage now and it says a 1000 dollars for a catalytic converter!! With shipping and taxes to norway that would be a total of almost 2000 dollars! Is there any cheaper way to get a good cat for this truck?

Go to www.summitracing.com and check the price there. I bought mine not to long ago for $149.98. It includes the y-pipe so it is a direct bolt in application. You will not regret it.

I honestly do not know what the difference is. You might want to call them to find out. If it was me, I would but the MPE-23285 and call it a day!

Gess I'll just get the cheap kit! But I notice that the catalytic converter is laying flat in magnaflow kits, but on my truck the cat is standing upright. will this make any problems considering heat and mounting space?
Opened my catalyst today and pulled out alot of pieces of the stuff thats inside and when it was empty, welded it back together and voila, my truck was working again. So I do need a new catalyst, gess I need to order one pretty fast before I need to go for a emissions test, but at least I got the truck up running again for now. The exhaust sound turned out pretty good to with an empty catalyst, haha

the best way to do it (also cheapest) is to get a universal magnaflow high flow cat the vehicle specific ones are more expensive. that is what i did i paid $250 installed for mine. just take it to your local welding shop and get-r-done.
