advise--Truck stuck in forest
ok thanks for the help guys, im going back out today, see if we cant get this figured out. im more worried about getting out of this trail, another mile, all up hill!! wish me luck!
great suggestions on how to yank you out, definately go down hill to get away from the tree. Is your front axle locked like it should be in 4x4? the cad unit up there will fail to lock it if it looses vacuum. Another possible suggestion would be to getan 8' piece ofplywood, cut it in half lenghtwise (1 for each tire) and drill in several long drywall screws so it gets some bite in the snow, then on the end away from the tire, put some sort of hook setup on it to keep it from moving and tie it off on a tree, do this for your rears. when you go to tow it back, have someone keep an eye on them so they dont flip & puncture a tire. you could also drill in a few 2x4's lenghtwise to give it strengththis way you have something solid and long to drive out on. I think the longer the screws, the better the bite and the less chance of it getting tossed.
I know it's not good timing to bring this up but this tire... http://www.procomptires.com/xtremeallterrain.html I have had in several situations with my current truck and it has yet to let me down, snow, shallow mud, hill climbs etc... the bonus with this tire is the wear rate, I have 35k on my current set and there is alot of tread left on them.
hope this helps...

get some cheapo tire chains from les schwab or somewhere else and put them on all four wheels. that should get you out. pulled me through foot and a half snow.
AND AIR DOWN!!!!!!!! can't say it enough AIR DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
friend of mine was stuck with his built ranger for two hours in foot and half of snow on NOTHING... really funny.. but it took him to finally air down to 10psi with his 33-12.50 tires to get out after digging him COMPLETELY out of the snow.

my trucks been stuck in swamps so deep 38's disappeared. hopefully you have friends with big trucks and a winch.
heres what to do: take one big truck, and get it stuck as best you can in 2wd semi-far away from yours. then bring the 2nd truck or jeep (whichever has a winch) and anchor it to the big truck you just purposely got stuck. then hook the winch up to your truck, and you'll get out no problems. just put your truck in neutral while you're winching, and let him pull you out.

was that yota even stuck? it must be 2wd cause the front tires were just resting on the snow....didnt even look stuck to me, but then again im not there to make asumptions
