advise--Truck stuck in forest
hey guys, went out with a few guys today, i got stuck pretty damn good. spent about 2 hours trying to get it out but we just ended up making it worse. we spent the rest of the day getting out 4 other trucks stuck on the same road. they gave us a ride back into town and now im tyrying to figure out how im gonna get it out..
theres only one way out of where we are at, and thats up hill, for about a mile in 1ft of snow, with atv rutts all over the place. im stuck, if i move my truck just slides more down the hill/cliff off to the side of the road. tried using a winch from a jeep but no luck. my truck has no winch or anything special, just bfg AT's. I have no idea on what to do. wait till summmer!!??
heres some pics.

then my friend tried to pass me and is now stuck too

so what you guys do? i was thinking about buying a come-along and trying that. or even a winch, but i probably cant install it out there...
any is appreciated...
thanks

From my experience from riding atvs, i just used things that would get me traction to get up a hill. Throwing sticks, logs, etc...and it worked everytime, although i have never done this on a automobile, just atvs.
thats how we got the other trucks out, sticks and rocks, but i tried moving foward or reverse, and my truck would just slide down that ditcheven farther, i thought about just gunning it, but i dont want to end up where no one can help me.hopefully tomorrow i can get ahold of someone, but i doubt they are gonna want to come down that.
First off air down to at least 8 PSI, at LEAST. Don't wuss out and keep them at 15PSI or something
Grap a bunch of ectra stuff, never know what you'll need. Grap a shovel and try to find somebody with a Hi Lift. They're handy for all sorts of stuff.
Put it in 4Low and try to creep out, ifyou can't you'll need to have somebody pull you on an angle.
Heres a pic. Get a beefy strap and a tree saver or just another strap. You'll need a big clevis, 7/8" or so. Wrap the strap/tree saver around something. You might have to get creative to find something to pull off of, even if it has to be another truck. Slide the strap through the clevis and make sure it'll slide free. Crank the wheel to the left and have the person start to pull. They'll probably have to jerk you a bit so make sure you both have too tow points. I see you don't have to hooks and there nothing to pull of off. They say not to pull of the axle but you might have to, and I think it'll be fine since its coil and not leaf spring. The control arms will stop the axle from ripping out or something

If this doesn;'t work you'll have to get another truck to pull you foward at the same time, like this.

Better yet, find somebody with a good sized winch and a ****** block and do what I drew in the picture.
Your not stuck bad, trust me. I've gone on some fun revoc missions, took a few hours but we got them out. Also has 2+ winches, but we've had to make due with almost nothing before. I can tell stories if you want [:'(]
Oh yeah, AIR DOWN!!!
Good luck.
Oh yeah, where are you located? Never know how far you might be from us

ill try airing down tomorrow. thanks for the adivice, ill have to pick up one of those D rings, only problem is that where you have the other vehicles is the steepest and worst part of the trail, so im not sure how well that would work, but i might have a few ideas now that you mentioned the d ring... colorado where im at.. a little far for a revoc
Hmmm, probably just have to get creative. The com along might have to do the trick, or a hi lift. You can use those a come alongs.
Airing down helps a ton. I've seen jeeps truck 10 times one hill covered in snow and get no where, they air down low and made it the first try.

tie your front end to a tree so it doesnt slide down the hill any further then it already is.. then get a friend to pull you back downhill.. better then pulling up hill.. the rope will keep you from sliding any further then you are.. and pulling you backwards threw your same ruts would help
air down for sure, another idea - this works in mud, not sure about snow. take a few hay bales and scattered them over where you need to go. it makes it less slick.
if that doesnt work you might try to find some tire chains that will fit, even the little one band emergency straps can help.

You're gonna want to pull out backwards (i.e. downhill).
Tie off your frame to another vehicle or treeon the up hill side so you don't slide downhill when you get on the gas.
Have another vehicle pull or winch from the back. If they can't get enough pull, use a ****** block for the winch to doube the power. Tie the recovery truck off to a tree or another truck to give it enough weight to pull you. If someone has a winch, you want the cable pulled out as far as possible (leave at least 5-6 wraps on the spool) so that he gets max power out of the winch.
You're not that stuck, you should come right out.
