Trailer brake wiring??
I just got a 98 1500 sport quad-cab 4x4 with a 5.2 and a manual transmission. I was wondering if it is pre-wired for a trailer brake controller and where the wiring is. I know some trucks have wiring under the dash and the bed, I'm just not sure on my new Ram.
Thank you,
Will

If your truck is prewired it will have a connector down under the steering wheel. You can just plug the brake box right into it. You will also have to take your light connector apart and reverse the two wires that are not soldered. otherwise your trailer brakes will be locked at all times.
No picture, but....Its a plastic connector (I think female) with a clip type fastener. The face of the connector is rectangular and is about 1" x 3/4". If you haven't used it before, it will probably still be stuffed up under the dash. Just reach up and feel around for a loose connector. The pigtails will be long enough to pull it down a few inches below the dash panel.
It is the part that plugs in your hitch that connects your trailer wires. Open it up and reverse the two wires that are not soldered together.
