How do you replace thermostat??????
I want to replace my thermostat as part of my cooling sytem tune up. South Texas summers get hot as hell and I do NOT want to be one of those stuck on the side of the road with an overheating issue. How in the world do you get to it waaaaaayyyyy down in that rat hole?????? Hell even the clamp holding the hose to the water neck is jammed up against something. Thanks!
I cant find the right up about it but... (in a nut shell) take the belt off, then the alternator and the ac compressor need to be taken off, then you have room to get to it...... becare and not to tighten the bolts to tight and break off the head of the bolt like i did..... lol that was very fun getting out!! lol Hopefully someone else can find that write up for you.
Thanks my friend. I'll say this Dodge sure makes it hard to do simple maintenance on there vehicles and , though I enjoy my first 4wheel drive truck, I'll never buy another one I'm going back to my Fords.
see this sticky thread at the top of the 2nd gen forum. https://dodgeforum.com/m_685947/tm.htm

yes its overly difficult. thanks dodge. there are a LOT of maintenance issues like this that just make you want to scream. have you tried to replace rotor, cap, and wires yet ?

No but just looking at the setup I can see it's going to be a PITA. The only slight relief I have is that , in addition to the lift, there's also a 3' body lift which gives me a little more clearance to get to it.
when you get rid of the stack intake and got an m1 or something close you get alot more room i can now access the thermostat and sesnors with out removing anything
What is an M1 and where do you get it? What's the benfits of it other than easier access to the thermostat?
