Default flowmaster

I just put a flowmaster super 40 on my truck. Someone told me they have to "break in" for a while until they get more sound. Mine is kind of quiet and I was wondering how to make it louder?

YUP! I totally agree with Bigschwerm. I ran no cats on my Stang GT with Super 40's and they sounded great not to mention freed up some power.

Theres nothing to "break in" flowmaster is a chambered muffler not like magnaflow where its "packed" highflow cat would help or no cat size of pipes makes a difference and the tips do to..

I didn't notice any change in the tone on mine. The break in most people talk about is the time it takes for the paint and finger prints to burn off and the funny smell you get from that. It usually takes a day or too for that to happen.

I'm running a set of 3.5" chrome tips. I have to agree with the gentlemen earlier, I've ran nothning but Flowmaster's on all of the vehicles I've ever owned ( I'm 43yr old) and in all that time I've never had to "break in" a set. And like the guy stated earlier the only " break in" is the paint and smell burning and it will takea day to do that.

2.5" exhaust to a 3.5" tip. Certain tips can effect the sound somewhat such as the baffeled one that has this cheese grater design with fiberglass like packing to create a muffled like sound. The ones on my truck you can pick up at Autozone and they have a rumbling sound to them that compliments the Flomaster's.
