Default 2WD 1500 Leveling Kit Complete...before/after pics

Well, the alignment shop said not to do it at home...i did it anyway.

Daystar 1.5" coil spring spacer...AKA...leveling kit.

super easy really... im pretty handy with the tools but i have never done any front end work. a little intimidated to tell the truth. once i got under there and started taking things apart...yeeaaaah...it was nice.

jack up the truck
put the frame on a jack stand
remove the wheel
remove the brake caliper (this was a great time to change the pads)
disconnect tie-rod from spindle (takes a love tap)
disconnect sway-bar
disconnect/remove shock
VERY IMPORTANT STEP
compress coil spring with tool borrowed from autozone
loosen castle nut from upper balljoint
(dont completely remove the nut just yet)
remove the spindle from upper control arm (takes a love tap...or 10)
support lower control arm with a jack
separate spindle from upper control arm (now remove that nut)
SLOWLY remove pressure from jack lowering control arm
remove coil spring
NOTE: coil spring is compressed...handle with extreme care
remove stock rubber boot
place new spacer on top of spring
place stock rubber boot on top of spacer
put the spring back into the cradle top first
be sure it is turned the same direction as it was
slowly jack it back up
connect upper ball joint stud with spindle
remove coil spring compressor
reinstall shock (good time to install new ones if needed)
reconnect swaybar (good time for those poly bushings)
reconnect tie-rod to spindle (dont forget the pin)
reinstall brake caliper
put the wheel back on
take it off the jack stand
look around for spare nuts and bolts
treat yourself to beer for not finding any
swap sides and repeat

hope this helps somebody

Looks sick dude. I put the same lift on mine and boy, it sure makes a difference. I didn't notice much more of a difference in ride quality other than maybe a slightly more rough ride, but thats with stock shocks. It's worth it Good job, looks great

the ride is frickin awesome actually, but i had to put new shocks on it when i did the lift. however, i bought the cheapies...monroe gas matics $22. also got the new tires when i did it. the Kumhos are soooo quiet and ride super sweet. had toyo open countrys before these and they werent even in the same ballpark as the kumhos.

Looks really good man! Any more pics of it? This truck is stock except for the tire's and leveling kit you just installed right?

I need to get a leveling kit for mine. I was going to go with the 2in leveling kit. Looks like a 1.5 is all that is needed?? Or would a 2inch work just fine with my stock 2wd setup and monroe Gas magnum shocks i have now?

Oh yea, how long did it take you to do both sides?

Who makes that kit? My 3/4 2wd is raked like an old 50's hot rod too, and I need to do some front end work anyway. Great job!
