wow thats awesome. how much did it run you? after the winter im thinking of pullin my motor and tranny and rebuilding the two because i love my truck and am going to have it for a long time

 

i guess witout all the deals and favors i got a job like this would ahve run around 1400 to 1500 depending on who done the labor.

no FRICKIN way i would have ever paid anyone to do all the work. labor alone could have been that on the machine work and swap.

 

im planning to do it myself. with the motor im doing everything, pistons, new head, or port and polish mine, crankshaft, push ros, rockers lifters, all the above head gasket everything. Since these trucks are pretty easy to work on. and i want to beef the tranny so it wont blow.

I hope i can do it all myself

 

dude...dont let them fool you. that tranny aint going anywhere and the pistons are pretty tough too. unless you are going zero deck the pistons you have will work. as far as working the stock heads...i think i would have been ok to do that myself, just have to be careful around cylinder 7 and make sure you get them pressure tested before spending your time on them.

the 46re is finicky and sometimes noisy and really likes to complain...but so are my employees...however, when it comes down to it...they perform everytime.

i too want bigger heads, i too have the 1.7 LOVE THEM, they act like a mini cam, however its harder to find a cam with the 1.7 , so when you do get a cam you may have to go with 1.6 adjustable with the pedestul mounts that go on top of the rockers
