so ive been thinking about HID's and i was wondering if anyone knows a good conversion kit to get off ebay, (9004, perferrably plug and play) thinking 10k or 12k and doing something with my fogs, probably not hid but a simulated blue so it looks the same (anyone have the number on hand?)

and how well do they work on the stock housing? im going to upgrade just not sure on what to get yet

 

I ordered the DDM Tuning kit w/ 6K bulbs. They were back ordered for a few weeks so I don't have them on yet. They should be arriving today or tomorrow, so I may have them on this weekend.

The DDM ones seemed to be have gotten a lot of good reviews here and on other Ram forums, so I went with them.

They were about $75 with the optional harness, which to me seemed required due to the stock wire gauge. (At $10 what the heck?)

Most, if not all, of the eBay kits are junk (coming from personal experience). Order from a reputable dealer like DDM Tuning.

Unless you want crappy, purple headlights, don't get something rated that high either. Past 6000k, you start to seriously lose lumens (light output). 4500-5000k is best for light output, 6000k will give you a very slightly blue-mostly white beam that seems to be very nice without losing functionality. 8000k and up are just for looks, they will not perform as well as high wattage halogen bulbs or 4500-6000k HIDs.

I have 10000K lights from a e-bay seller with a 2 year warranty and I like them no flickering at all.

 

You'd get pulled over and impounded so fast for those in CA. Blue or Red are police colors, mimicking them is up to a felony in this state. Thank God, I'm so sick of blue headlights blinding me in the face because they scatter all over the place.

did you need the HID harness, error eliminator or adaptor cables? how hard is it to install?

 

You may or may not have to wire these straight to your battery rather than use the factory wiring. I'm assuming that's what DDM's "HID harness" does from their brief description of it. While those HIDs only use 35w while running, they require a higher amount of power to initially turn on than halogens, and that's why you may (or may not) need that.

Error eliminator shouldn't be needed with our trucks. Newer 3rd gens and up, I think yes, but not ours.

Make sure and get the "Hi/Lo" kit so that you still have high/low beams.

No offense to you or your truck, those lights look pretty nice, but they are not as useful as a the mid-range K rated kits.

 

I know that the mid-range k kits are brighter but I liked the blue lights. I only got the single beam kit. My dad has the 5000k high and low on his ram and they are a little bit brighter than mine but not that much
