Talking 1998 4bt Cummins Swap

HEY GUYS- VIDS OF THE TRUCK ARE ON PG. 25
Hey all,
As some of the guys here know, I have a 5.9/46re not worth its weight in dirt. I have been locating 4bt's acrossed the nation without much luck in the last 2 weeks. I found a built hydraulic 47rh (4spd w/ Lock up) to mount behind it.

I'll be pulling motor/transmission next weekend and start tinkering with engine mounts as I find a motor for a "less than ridiculous" price.

I'll have pic's, options, and probably questions posted here.(Minus the cuss words )

This'll be my first engine/trans swap and build thread. Let the learning curve begin!!

Cant wait to see it come together. I have contemplated this swap several times but i have never seen one for a less than ridiculous price. Good luck!

Well said you've searched all across the nation so my guess is you don't really care where it's located? I've been seeing this 4bt (w/ a ford trans) on craigslist around my area for a while, but the seller doesn't list a price. This is his ad if you're interested: http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/ctd/3172005318.html

This is in Billerica, Massachusetts btw... kind of a hike from spirit lake

If the price/quality is right, shipping will only be a small obstacle... I may have found one in nebraska that I could pick up over the weekend.

Update with a little info:
The 47rh has 3K since it's rebuild. Red alto clutches, Kolene steels, Transgo shift kit, and billet single disc converter... I'll be degreasing/cleaning it up for some red engine paint to match the 4bt block. Also be adding my pressure switch for OD.

Ill throw up some pics when I'm done, found my complete 4bt.. waiting for it to be pulled/shipped

Auto? Lame. A motor like a 4bt deserves a stick even more than a v8.
