I was worried about it too, but its a class D and only two channels, and ive checked it after long periods of driving and not even warm.

If you have proper voltage to the amp and the ground is good like to the frame, paint scraped away. The amp shouldn't get warm under the seat. IMO under the seat can be a bad idea if someone spills some form of liquid or someone just gets in and flops in the seat and slams it around.

And if you set the gains properly the amp wouldn't have a chance to work harder.

I agree if you put the amp under one of the front seats that could happen, but if you put it under the rear seats of a Quad Cab you shouldn't have any issues, unless someone spills a ton of liquid, again another reason though, just in case that I like having mine mounted to the bottom of the the seat upside down so they don't even touch the ground.

I took the jump seat out behind the driver seat. I have a alpine 12 in a regular best buy box. Can't lay the seat down really far but I don't drive laying down. My truck hits hard as f$;" with a 500watt amp....

I'm sure it does man, great thing about trucks is when you do a system, the subs are almost always right there in the cab and don't have anything get drowned out by being in the trunk, and 500 wow! I only got one 10 hidden behind my rear driver seat in my quad cab and it hits pretty good, granted I'm thinking of trying to upgrade to a better 10 that can hit maybe a little more. When you're able add some pics!

Very nice, I will probably be doing the same in the future, and of course probably go with a diff brand that just Dynamat to save a few bucks, unless I find a great deal on some.

home depot stuff? do tell

hey guys i was on the thread about removing the center front seat and replacing it with a full consol n had a crazy idea after looking at a few pics of the underside of the center 20% section of the front seats. there is a good gap under it and with some minor "ripping n tearing" or mods it could probably be setup to fit 2 8" subs under it. this would put the subs right between the two front seats and directed to the floor to disperse the sound throughout the cab. im gonna look into it some more see if i cant find the center seat specs and some speaker specs n see if i cant nuke the **** outa this n come up with something.

ill keep posted if you got any ideas or info that may help this idea hit me up

Home Depot sells a asphalt roof patching material, comes in a roll. Something like 40 feet for $7. Same as dynamat just not as thick. It's the rubber sticky bottom with a metal backing. Ill get the item number tomorrow when I get to the shop. Hell of alot cheaper than dynamat and even if you put two layers you still save enough that you can do your whole interior
