Default Trip range

Just got back from my first sorta long trip in the Dakota. I reset the overhead display halfway through when I filled up and was dismayed at the 325 mile DTE range it gave me. Haven't had time to look in the manual and see what size the tank was, but every vehicle I've had prior to this was able to make 400 miles on the interstate. You guys doing any better on a tank?

Sounds about right. These trucks don't get great mileage.

Well my last tank, I got 13.4mph with half city and half highway. Im going to stick with not calculating gas mileage as I dont want to even know anymore. Every time I see my low MPGs Ill think about all the money Im throwing away. Lol

Thats the thing! I didnt think I drove that bad. That was the same tank that I tried burying the needle a few times. I really want to get my speedo on video going from 0-120. Every time, I hit 110 and then I ran out of road or I saw headlights coming.

I know I used to get 17 mpg when I first got the truck. Must have been driving like a grandpa, down hill, and with the wind on my side the whole tank though.

On a side note, I did drive for one WHOLE tank with never taking the rpms above 2250 rpm .... I got 15 mpg. I find if you drive moderate, you get the best ... but that means no WOT.

I realize our mileage isn't that great, but neither is are most v8 pickups. We just have small tanks on these trucks. My display was reading 19.3 avg mpg when it gave me the 325 range with a full tank.

Yeah, also take in to account that your truck only weighs 300lbs less than a 4.7l Quad Cab Ram. These things arent light weight.

Anything over 18mpgs and you cant really complain, IMO. I would be pretty angry though if I had the V6; their gas mileage is just about the same as our trucks with V8s.
