Interesting idea. Like being able to get in when that idiot parks too close. For a 4 door could they be separate? Probably wouldn't work on a lowrider.

That is sweet. The only problem I see is when it's raining or snowing the inside would get pretty wet, but would still love to have that.

checked out the website. Says they can do for a standard 4 door vehicle. No mentioning of price, only that they have talked to most of the major auto manufacturers. Also says that the mod dose not affect the normal ride height of the vehicle with the belly pan added. Still pretty sure it can't be done on a lowered vehicle though.

good luck getting in/out when your battery dies or the motor goes out. I see it as a huge safety risk. I'll stick to opening and closing my doors manually

I'm sure they are gravity driven initially, then powered to lock them in place under the floor. That's how I would design it anyways.

Yeah it would be cool if it works manually as well so that you could open and close even with a dead battery. Heck, it probably does work manually.

However, I think they mention in the video that this mod is something that should be done to a vehicles during it's original manufacturing so that the car's overall structure is not weakened.

they do have a manual mode and are tested to open easier underwater than a standard door in case of an accident. Based on the website, it looks like they hsve pretty thoroughly tested these. G o check it out.

The BMW z1 has doors like this. the Top Gear episode with it, was awesome.

I can't see the structure of a car being that great without B-pillars, they can re-enforce but then that adds to weight. I don't want to open my back doors at the same time either. It's a nice idea, but in the end it's not very practical. It's just easier for Jeeves to get his rich passengers out.

they do reinforce the doors and pillars and the rears could be separate in a 4 door vehicle. The Lincolns in the video are 2 door with a 10 inch extension.
