Floor jacks are really useful, but when you use one (a hydraulic jack of any type), remember they can fail instantly. Use axle stands or blocks before crawling underneath.

so true. I never get under a vehicle without jackstands. Last night during the Daytona 500, right before Montoya wrecked into the jet dryer, they showed him at his pit, they were jacking up the side of his car and a crew member was crawling under trying to get to something. I was thinking how dumb, I know your in a hurry and all, but thats what gets people killed. As a side note, I got that jack for Christmas this last year. It is da bomb!

I dont remember who it was, but a few years back a driver pitted, they jacked up the car and the crew chief got under it to do something. Well needless to say, do to poor communication the driver took off, the car fell on the crew chief and killed him.

What sort of lift (distance) does it give you?

think i might have found the clunk...loose sway bar link...anyways the jack goes from 5"-20" and it lifts the truck that high as well....i did it to get a good measurement for you gator but i don't recommend lifting it that high without using alternative support which should be done anyways every time you lift your vehicle

Thanks, I wouldn't get under it without stands! I'm just wondering what lift everyone uses to get the wheels off the ground.
