Bye Bye Dakota
Like the little truck but its short on performance parts, hell i cant find a solid answer on lowering the truck. So I am going diesel, sure its fuel is more expensive but you want toys you gotta pay a price. Getting either a 1999 or a 2001 Cummins and going to get cray with it. Thanks for any help some of you have given me and be safe ladies and gents
I made a lowering FAQ :P
Yea this truck isn't for everyone, hell.. it's really meant for no one lol. hence the sales figures... But I'm happy being no one.

Enjoy the cummins, be sure to post farewell pics.

Performance upgrades are out there, and honestly i can't say that they cost more than they do for any other vehicle. Cams, exhaust, tunes, blowers, gears,e-fans,etc...
I mean it's definitely no Mustang, I'm not going to find 50,000 forums dedicated on turbo charging my car but it's cool to be the first sometimes =D

i like my dakota, but i have to admit thinking about doing the same........especially when a red or black ram 2500 4x4 crew cab is sitting on a lot lookin' all tall & shiny ,lol, but , then i see the sticker $$ & i swear the dakota winked at me when i looked back
I can't blame you one bit. This truck was not only a major disappointment for Chrysler but for so so many owners duped into a really bad deal. Poor performance, tons of **** gone wrong for so many not including the awful rusting problems. This was a leftover design from the horrible Daimler deal days. They say there is a ton of these sold in Germany too and I have to believe with their roads and salt use the Dakota must have been even worse over there. I hated to see the American midsize platform go away but the Dakota in its Gen III package was bound to loose sales and they did. The fat lip front bumper went to a worse punched face look and sales even went further in the hole and fast. Now I hear they are planning a unibody joke like the Honda joke that never worked for them obviously. The only real midsize left with honest power is the Nissan Frontier. The roomers’ of the Nissan Dodge build exchange where the Ram was going to be a Titan and the Frontier was going to be a Dakota never happened but it may have been a good thing for both companies if it did happen. My Dak is paid for and now has 100600 miles on it. Replace way too much stuff and now I have to replace the HVAC blower motor (made in Mexico) of course. I have a running tab of over 5k in repairs time & materials. Never again will Chrysler get a dime from me. Let’s also not forget that the 06 I originally bought was a buy back and that’s how I ended up with the 07. That is not a good history for any vehicle.
