Default Batteries

Anyone have recommendations on batteries?

I ask because I've recently had 3 in a row fail right after the warrranty was up. One for my car (36 mo), one for my motorcycle, one for my boat (both 24mo). I've always got around 5 years before. All 3 of these came from the same chain auto parts store. Have noticed the batteries are "hecto en Mexico".

Wow, the stock Harley battery on my 2003 Buell is still going strong...

I expect to have to replace batteries soon though and have been looking into the AGM ones, I like many of their benefits, but mostly the temperature extreme resistance is of interest to me.

I have had good luck with Duralast... thats what I ran on my old truck. I think we are either runnign a Bosch or a Pro Start in the wifes Ion and a Napa Gold in my HD.

Since my Ford Ranger, I have always gotten Bosch.

The battery came with the truck with a stamp on it, I don't remember what year the battery was but it was around 4 years old when I got it. Right when I got the truck, the A4LD trans went out and the truck sat for 3 months through the winter, started right up. I got a second truck a couple years after I fixed the trans in that ford, so again the ranger sat around through another winter. This time, 6 months... that good ol' Bosch started right back up again. I never had to charge it after it sat for months no matter what. I think it was about 7 years old when it just died flat. bought a cheapo and sold the truck.

Not yet... I always mean to when I take the battery off the bike for the winter but thenI forget till about February... but, it's only a Blast so the single cylinder 492CC isn't asking alot of the battery.

Haven't fired her up yet this year yet though, so we shall see... I've gotta fix what I think is a fuel filter problem first, oh and a cracked exhaust pipe...

Yeah, it's my understanding from the Jeep forums that most batteries here in the US are now manufactured in Mexico, in one of two plants. So that tells me that pretty much no matter what name is on the sticker they are pretty much all the same junk.

I used to be an Optima battery nut, but since Johnson Controls bought them out, closed the US plants and now gets them all out of Mexico they have gone to sh*t. Are REALLY getting a bad name around the winching crowd.

It's my understanding that Interstate still manufactures here and the higher end (cost) Die Hards are still US made...

Id go with the Interstate Megatron series. Had a set in my old 6.5 chevy diesel dated from 2007. Had no problems cranking even when it got down to -20 and had sat for 3 days. Thats where my moneys going when the Durango needs a new one next winter.

I put a Duralast yellow top in mine. No issues what so ever.

I got my from Auto zone with a 30% off online with in store pickup almost 3 years ago

65-DLG is the battery number. It is the only direct OEM replacement for size that Duralast offers. Took me 8 batteries to find the correct one.

I put in a Autocraft Gold #65-2 that I picked up Advanced Auto with a $40 code off in 2010.

I've had the Duralast Gold for a little over 2 years now. No problems yet. Any other of my choices such as Die Hard were double the price at the time.
