Default New Wheels

Well, I got my new rims and Nitto Terra Grappler 285/70 - 17 tires. They just barely fit with a bit of rub on a slow tight turn. I trimmed a bit out of the mud flap, but it needs more - I'll wait until I have the body lift installed before cutting much more.

Here are some pictures:

There's actually a bit more room on the back wheels - I'll take some pictures of the back before I start the lift so that you can see. There's lots of up/down room, it's the front that needs more fore & aft space because the tire is offset from the hinge point & this means that on a full turn, either the front or rear of the tire (depending on which way you're turning) comes withing rubbing distance of the inner fender at the front or the inner fender & the mud flap in the back of the wheel well.

I had the 265-70-17 tires on my dakota. I tried to go bigger but had rubbing issues,
did you get the 8 or 10ply?

I got the 10ply. stiffer tire but I like that.

I like the look of those rims!

Looking great man, glad to know that the rubbing is not that bad with that size. I like the rims as well..clean and simple!

I got the 8 ply, I figured they'd be stiff enough, especially with a lot of new suspension parts.

I'm fairly sure that the body lift will raise the rub points out of harms way. If it doesn't quite do the trick, I can make a brace/stiffener out of some flat steel to put in behind the bottom of the inner fender and use this brace as a an area I can pull the inner fender against - there's lots of flex there, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Those are great wheels man, they look like stocker heavy duty wheels on a GM but much better 'cause they're on a mopar.

I found most of my rubbing to be around the rear part of the inner fender where there isn't much flex, still rubs infact. My situation is a bit different though.

That is a lot of tire, it'll look great with the BL. Wheels are nice too.
