Default Lifetime Powertrain Warranty

So I am assuming some people have this... with that said, has anyone done their 5 yr required inspection at the dealer? And what all did it entail? I was reading through the warranty the other day and found it needs to be inspected 5 yrs after the date of purchase to keep it active and current.

Yeah same here, end of September, beginning of October. I think the only thing I will be doing before the inspection is tuning back to the stock tune.

let me know how it goes! try to find out what all they check.. I plan on taking mine in within the month

Also, does anyone think it would be advisable to remove my rear blocks before having it checked? If there is an issue could/would they blame the blocks?

Will do. I did speak with Master Tech (one of our mods here) whom told me basically, they'll be checking out all your fluids, looking for signs of leaks, burnt fluids and basic maintenance. Upon scheduling the truck, they did ask about my 30k maintenance and if I have flushed the cooling system. Which I have done the 30k. Flushing the cooling will be done by the end of the month or so.

I can't imagine them knocking you for a suspension upgrade beings the lifetime warranty only covers the engine, trans and driveline. I mean the only thing you did that would affect that is possibly changing the angle of the driveshaft. I left my KN intake on and of course the MBRP Catback, however I did de-tune.

dsimm,

Here's what they check for with the powertrain:

1. They check for any leaks throughout the powertrain.
2. They check for any physical damages throughout the powertrain.
3. They check for any modifications that affect the operation of the powertrain.
4. Then lastly, They scan and check for any DTCs related to the powertrain.

Afterwards they did a courtesy inspection as well.

During one of the inspections they found, supposedly, that my oil filter was leaking... funny thing is, there was not and has not been a single oil spot in my driveway. I just changed the oil last night and ran the truck around to check for this. I guess they don't change oil to often on a Dakota or they would realize the the oil filter blasts oil all over the front end components during a change. $13.95, new OEM oil filter, and an oil top off later, it passed the warranty inspection with a small footnote about my KN and MBRP Exhaust which basically means that if I have issues and they can prove it was the fault of either they could deny me. The manager also told me to just make sure I clean the filter regularly. The only issue with there possible denial is, KN has stated they will fight on your behalf if the dealer says the filter was the cause of the issue thus the denial. The exhaust, I cant really see them ever claiming it was at fault beings I still have the stock cats and manifolds on.

I guess I should get this done, I didn't realize that we needed this inspection.
And this would be 6 years for me (in December), I hope it's not too late.
