Default update on my truck

hey guys, haven't really posted anything about my truck lately and am too lazy to make separate threads for small mods/news. I really wanted the MBRP catback system so I was talking to Billy about it and then I ended up ordering it last week. Well..turns out I gave my choice a second thought and ended up cancelling the order because I thought it was a waste of money since my current setup is perfectly fine. I had bought the Magnaflow y-pipe to be put in with the catback system and figured I would get that installed even though I cancelled the catback order. I brought it to my exhaust guy today and due to that crossmember right after the y-pipe he told me it would be way too much of a clusterf*ck if I had that mounted. At first he kind of got me angry because he was acting like I didn't know what the factory one looked like compared to the one I bought. I told him that Hemi guys are swearing by these and you gain some good mid/high RPM power and it is about a 40% increase in exhaust flow over the stock restrictive system, less backpressure etc. He still kind of doubted me and told me that it would not be a noticeable difference except for maybe a tenth of a second on the quarter mile. Anyways, we ended up having a friendly conversation and he realized that I am much more knowledgeable about my truck than he had assumed. So my point is..don't bother with the y-pipe unless you want to spend a lot of money to install it because it isn't an easy task. Even if the location of it was moved back in the system the crossmember would have to be removed to perform the cuts/welds. On a half ton with a Hemi, especially the 4th gen, it is a much different situation. They fixed a weld at the tail pipe that had snapped and I had redneck repaired with an exhaust clamp and I was not charged either, so I was happy. I am not saying anything bad about the MBRP system! I really like their products but it was $416 that I would rather put in my savings account..I am one of the younguns on this site My system is plenty loud and sounds great as is..it's just really quiet in the cab (to me anyways) and that gives me the idea in my head that I want a louder system. I like the way my truck's rear end looks now anyways without any exhaust pipes back there!

For cosmetics lately, I touched up my tail lights with some spare night shades. Also, I painted the inside of all of my splash guards with plasti-dip and it looks more clean/rugged now. My HID's broke on me again after I tuned it and got a sticker etc.. something with the PCM killing the power to them even though I have a relay harness on there. I hardwired those to a switch under my steering wheel to make things easier. Detailed the engine bay the other night with some Armor All interior protectant and it looks pretty good. Other than that I am ordering Monroe struts at the end of the week because I need them desperately before school starts and also I need to know if
this this
mount will do/do I need to order two or is it a pair? I know RockAuto carries mounts too but I am ordering the struts from Amazon so would like to get the mounts through them too since its much quicker shipping. And no my buddy still did not get his new tires..so no 20's for this guy yet. Doh!
edit: I removed my door spears as well..damn those things were ugly! Didn't notice until I took them off. I just sprayed them with adhesive remover and took a piece of fishing line to them and they came off instantly. Used the eraser wheel to take off the residue left behind. Guess it is time for a new sig pic!

Nice, glad ya have it figured out. Its ok you didn't go with the MBRP, they are salty, just as well as all the other full catback systems, but IF you need an exhaust, it is well worth it when you start pricing out a similiar steel system. I was quoted anywheres from $280 and up for a steel stock appearing exhaust with and without me supplying the muffler, thats why I chose the MBRP route, knowing the install would be cake and that I would be doing it.

You have a very sharp truck and I'm looking forward to the photos. Seems like alot of the things you've done to yours are along the lines of what I'd like to do to mine.

Its never too many pictures. Exhaust looks good. I don't know why everyone wants to get rid of the door spears though. I wish my truck came with them! As the french say, Le sheeet!
