Just found this forum and want to know what 1st gen, 2nd gen, and 3rd gen means? I have a 2008 Dodge Dakota. Thanks

It's based off of your year of Dakota which correlates to the body style.
1st generation is 87-96
2nd generation is 97-2004
3rd generation is 2005-up
So yours is a 3rd gen. I can move this post there for you.

Welcome!
A little note about the 3rd Gens: there was a major front end change (cosmetically) in 2008, and they changed the 4.7L V8 quite a bit as well.
What do you have all for specs on your 2008? Any pictures? I will move this thread to the non-tech section, since its not a technical question.

Thanks to all. I will go to 3rd gen. forum and post my question about front suspension.
