Wheel and tire size???
Hi,
Im wondering if these rims will fit rub wise and what tires i should get on them?
Wheels are 20"x10 or 9 SRT10 wheels. Will these fit ok on my 2006 SLT quad cab 4x4? Also if so what size tire should i looks for...

Well, this is the 3rd gen Dakota section, your 1988 would be a first gen. Head over to thast section and post your question. If you really are wanting 3rd gen info, there is a thread in the DIY/FAQ'a section discussing wheel and tire sizes.

Well, I'm guessing he saw the 1988 Dodge Dakota under your username.
But anyway, my wheels are 20 x 9, and I get a slight interior rub on full turn. So unless you go with a negative offset, (which will push the wheel out at least an inch past the fenders), a 20 x 10 wheel will be difficult to fit your 06 Dakota. And also, it's going to have to be a really crazy tire size to fit those 10" wide wheels and be able to fit under the Dakota.

Yes stock suspension. I think they are 20x9 actually, that seems to be the size of the Ram SRT10 wheels.
I found after looking through that linked wheel size thread that im probably looking at a 285/50/20 up front with a little trimming to achieve no rub at full trim.
And correct me if im wrong but i just spoke with my tire guy and positive offset puts the tire outside of the wheel well more, where negative places the tire inside more??? The rims im looking at are a +24.5 offset i think.
I got my eye on kumho ecsta tires and size 285/50/20 up front and possibly wider 305/50/20 in the back???

First off, on a 4x4, you need the same size tires front & rear. And on stock suspension, 265/50/20 will fit, any larger could be major trouble. With a leveling kit, you can put 285/50/20, with some minor trimming up front, the rears will fit without any modification necessary. Going with 285/50/20 on stock suspension, and you'll be doing some major cutting up front to fit them.
Your tire guy is confused, or not very good. A lower offset pushes the wheel away from the frame, and a higher offset will pull the wheel in towards the frame.
The SRT10's are usually 20" x 9", with an offset of +25. That is good for our trucks. And like I said above, a 265/50/20 is good on stock suspension. And a 285/50/20 is good with a leveling kit (1.5" or 2"), and would require some minor trimming. Also with the 285's, there will be some minor rubbing of the tire on the front sway bar & frame at full turn, nothing to worry about though.

He is a solid tire guy i must have explained my question wrong to him. While im not disagreeing with you as obviously i have no clue hence the thread. the guy in that other thread didnt state any mods to suspension to run those 285/50/20's other than wheel well cutting? Maybe he left those details out but ill take your advice and look for 265/50/20's i guess.

There's definitely a better selection of tires with 285's, over 265's. Either the Trailmaster DL223 1.5" leveling kit (which I have installed), or the 2" Daystar leveling kit seem to be the most popular. Both the 1.5" and 2" kits require the same (roughly) amount of trimming, and fit the same tire sizes.
FYI, the larger the leveling kit, the more stress is put on the front end components. Which is why I went with the 1.5" lift.

Ah ok sounds good. Ill probably snap that tm kit up then look around for tires. I was kind of hoping for something a tad more low pro street looking than 285/50/20 the sidewalls seem a tad big to me but i guess the rid will be better. and the bigger tires make the 20's look small IMO
You could go 265/50/20 or 275/45/20 if you're looking for a low profile tire. And skip the leveling kit altogether.
