Default Ice Road *uckers = Dak Banged Up

Like seriously...WTF ***hole! Alas...Ok guys here it is short and sweet.

AM rush hour, on an inclined winding entrance ramp that solid ice, I was taking the turn slowly because of the fact and had my foot hovering the gas pedal

Some "Phallic" individual in a mid-80's Olds going faster than he should have been for the road conditions, bumps me from behind because he (or she...to be fair) can't slow down enough at that point.

Ergo the combo of their "nudge" + my momentary pedal stomp (forward body movement etc etc) was enough to lose control and send me into the guard rail at about 5-10mph.

Quickly regained my situational awareness, just in time to see that this "5th Appendage" didn't stop and continued onto the highway. Well, no airbag deployment and truck was still drive-able, so I (cautiously) went after his stanky 4th Point-of-Contact", unfortunately my efforts were futile and the ***** (there I said it, *****) got away.

FML...just got done getting her back together not a couple months ago, aside from my random "Attack of the Killer Road Debris" incident last October, that almost cost her life. Most important thing of course is no one (except my mistress) got hurt, and nothing got damaged that can't be fixed (by insurance).

BLUF, police report filed, insurance notified, and taking it one step at a time. She's a little worse for wear, but she should pull through just fine, so y'all can breathe easy. I'll keep you updated with her prognosis and what the Doctors end up doing surgically.

Annnnd of course...for your viewing pleasure....

Don't think there is any frame, suspension, or functionality damage...

First, glad you're ok. Second, hope they find the person that hit you. Were you able to get a plate number? Hopefully you won't get the run around with the ins company and that she gets put back together to pre accident state.

EDIT: Just saw your plates. From one vet to another, thanks for your service.

Sorry to hear it, it's amazing how someone could simply drive away from it.
I hope somehow that you find out who it was.

Hey guys, just got back home from a much more hectic day than I was expecting...before I forget...thank you for your condolences and and brotherly props back at both of you as well!

Still, got a lot to do tonight but here is the skinny...

For a day that began on such a sour note...it appears to be ending succulent and sweet (potentially)

First off I was able to accomplish my main mission for the day which was: Operation- Get car starter installed on girlfriends car without her knowing about it.

Second: Got a call from the claims adjuster a couple hours ago, I have an appointment tomorrow morning to get an estimate...this is where things might get sweeter....

I'm fairly confident (from initial inspection and just having put over 300 miles on her since this morning) that there is no damage beyond what I can repair. Insurance is being cool and said that since it's drive-able, I might be able to choose to just let them cut me a check (-minus $500 deductable) and go my merry way.

Which leads to my newly invoked night ops mission brief: Operation- How much for all the parts to do it myself? Gonna give her a good look over and then scour the net and get a shopping list together. Not trying to kill myself with precision estimating, but want to get as close to a ball park as I can, so as to have as much ammo (in terms of number crunching) in my head locked and loaded for when I get to my appointment in the morning.

I will be updating this thread throughout the entire start to finish of her recovery and care planning...tonight specifically what parts I'm gonna need (in case any of you kind spirited folk have some viable intel that I can put into my action plan)

Lastly, before I conduct my PCC's and PCI's (any semi recent VFW's out there reading this know what I'm talking about) and SP from the starting line I just wanna put out there, this is exactly why I never threw out and requested back and parts that I or anyone had to replace since I got her... i.e. I still have my original headlight that was replaced last year due to a couple chips on the edges smaller than a dime.

So strap in, buckle up, cue up your BFT's and lay off the Hot Mic's; for this hellaciously and quite possibly somewhat enjoyable unplanned holiday sleigh ride

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!

.....(I love a good challenge)

Thanks Brother Jaded and all y'all for the condolences. I posted a thread on the main 3rd Gen Dak page under "Quick Help with Insurance..." Just posted how things went with insurance people. I'm actually heading out of the house now to go have them cut me check for the damage. But simple and sweet here is the breakdown...

My pre-inspect. guess of their est. = $1,250

Progressive's "Estimate" = $2,220

Check to me minus Deductible = $1,720

DIY current estimate of repair = $720

Possible Cash in pocket = $1,000

Poss reason for accident and end result = The Lord works in mysterious ways.

sorry to hear about the Dak but glad to hear that you're okay and that insurance is helping you out. Can't wait to see her back to 100%
