Default 1 wk in Cali and in a 4 car pile up

I was headed to Radio Shack to get a new LED for my alarm and some wire. I stopped at a red light, and got rear ended. 2 Separate collisions. A jeep hit me, I hit a old Sentra than a Lexus hit the Jeep jolting all of us forward again. Over all I made it out all right. Its gonna run me 300 for a new bumper, brackets. Unless I find one a junkyard here.

My bull bar on my bumper went right up on his trunk lid, left a nice indention.

Why is it going to cost you anything? Isn't the guy who hit you going to pay for it?

Wouldn't I still have to pay for the deductible? Which to me wouldn't be worth it.

Nope. If it's somebody else's fault, it shouldn't cost you a dime.

hanks, I'm going to do that. Google just taught me some stuff. I always thought I would still have to pay the deductible. Thankyou for your insight.

Glad you're ok. Guessing that beast of a bumper on the front held it's own.

Check your state's laws. Here in South Carolina you would be considered at fault for not leaving enough following distance between you and the car ahead of you (retarted but it's SC). I was at the front of one of these two years ago and was the only person who didn't have to pay for repairs and higher insurance rates.

I don't know how other states work but here in California, he's not at fault.

Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

be glad you aren't in Michigan, you'd get one for hitting the car in front (not enough distance) and they have no fault so your insurance would take the hit for your damage anyway. It's a universal law, but seldom enforced now, if you hit the car in front of you you are considered at fault (and your insurance company may see it that way anyway)

Isnt it whoever started the chain reaction is at fault. And yes you would be responsible for deductible if you use your OWN insurance to claim, good thing is your covered to receive that money back and any other money lost during ie rental
