You'll get slightly better power and mileage from the '08-11 V8s. I prefer the front on them, too.

Nice signature block.

A V-6 will do the same work, it'll just take longer and you'll be using lower gears a lot. I.E. sucking fuel.

Well, considering my long-term needs for a truck, I'm seriously considering going for a Slate pickup instead of a Dakota. Here's a video of the official unveiling.

There are more videos on YouTube detailing the Slate, and I'm quite impressed.

Another startup electric vehicle company...... I would be reluctant to buy from them, as you just don't know how long they are going to be around. I've seen too many come and go, in a short period of time....... I would like to have some confidence that I'll be able to get support/parts for my vehicle for the foreseeable future.

I saw a separate article and it's from Jeff Bezos. My concern is it's "pending". Elon promised a cheap electric car but it never really showed up as a cheap car.

Theoretically, they are going to become available toward the end of 2026.... We'll see.... And they are going to be direct sales, no dealer network. So, where do you take it for service/repairs??

The slate is stripped down, not even a radio. and only 150 mile range. My biggest gripe with the Dakota is the range, I typically get 290 before needing to fill up. The slate is a bargain at 20k ? Most Dakotas I see on the market are asking $6k and with that you get cheap insurance and tag fees. It doesn't make sense performance wise or financially to me.

Bling is certainly not what Slate is about! Black wheels and plain gray paint. And one thing I can't understand about the Dakotas is how come they didn't offer them with the 4.7 HO motor(up to 2004)? It has more power than the 5.9 magnum stock. And they had the RT models with them. Guess they didn't want to offer a "performance" Dakota anymore. And a lot of people rag on the 4.7, It had an issue with valve seats. But have seen plenty of them with 200K with no issues.

If you want something brand new, with a warranty, 25K is dirt cheap. Sure, you get basic transportation, with zero frills.....And with the various tax credits, it gets even cheaper..... Personally, I have no desire to spend that kind of scratch on a new 'car'...... But then, I am not precisely 'wealthy' either.

I think, if it actually goes on sale, it will be a lot of "Early Adopters" who have the newest and latest trend. Like the Cybertruck. One thing about them, you don't mistake them for a different car. I went by the Mazda dealer to get some parts for my CX-5 and they had three on the lot. People look at them but everything else on the lot is rotating but the Tesla just sit there. Nobody wants them.
