Default current new vehicle pricing

hello,

i've been looking for a new truck for a while now... after looking at a ton of them im kinda partial to a new 2007 dakota, can you guys help me out with pricing? i don't want to overspend, and at the same time i don't want to make some ridiculous statements to the dealer when negotiating the price. I've been looking at this particular ST Club Cab 4x4 auto 4.7l V-8. MSRP of $26,820.00 ... was offered it for$22,045.00(msrp-$4000 current incentives - $850 dealer discount) ---> it's substantially higher than edmunds "tmv" pricing or whatever they're calling it.... from your experience, do you think i can get it for a better price? and if so, what do you think is a reasonably good deal?

thanks!

Check a Mitsubishi dealer. You may get a better deal on a Raider (same as the Dakota).

Don't go With The Raider... the Dakota looks Much Better, try pricing it out on the Dodge website and see how it compares to the sticker.

I wouldn't pay much (if any) over invoice minus rebates. Talk to internet managers or fleet managers, not the regular salespeople, and keep shopping until you find the right deal.

OR like Frenchy said, wait for an '08, I think they will be out in a few months, I would!

haha tempting ...but...where can i find spec sheet of the new model? the thing is, i thinkthis current setup (4x4/4.7) is just perfect for my needs... will the new engine be more economical? or with the power increase will come even more thirst for gas?... my reasoning is, push the salespeople for a good deal now, they know that new models are coming out soon but i'm affraid if i wait too long, thetruck with exact setup i want will be harder and harder to find, as the stock depletes...

Couple things...

1) I paid $1000 less ($21,500) for my decently equipped SLT. Now, note I don't have four wheel drive, so that'll knock it up a bit, but you should be able to get it a lot cheaper than $22,500.

2) If I had to do it all over again, I'd wait for the '08 too. The new V8 has more power and is supposed to give better fuel economy. It's a win-win situation! Plus, you can order the exact setup you want and get it built for ya.

Yeah, but not for 22K...More like 29K I bet...He'll need to decide if that extra power is worth that much extra cash...I doubt it is.

I paid way too much for my 05 dakota 4x4 slt club cab. I think If I buy a vehicle again I would try consumer reports. For $14 bucks or so they will give you a complete pricing report for what you are looking for including the what the dealer paid for the truck. You need to find out what the dealer actually paid for the truck not the invoice price but the actual dealer price. Some websites can help you find that price. You should only pay 3 percent over what the dealer actually paid for the truck. The 3 percent is a fair profit for the dealer.
