why does the auto makers now days insist on the raked look?

This vehicle in particular does it because the 2WD and 4WD have the same ride height

Or possibly because 95% of trucks are used to TOW something in their lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is inherent to the design because they are designed to haul loads in the bed and also tow trailers, thus "level out" when loaded.
ALL pickuks have a "rake" from the factory.

Yah, what's wrong with Rake? Sweet RAM eric!

It's kinda funny factory makes them that way and aftermarket companies make millions on "Leveling Kits".

And our rake is hard to level out thanks to that payload capacity and the nice rear springs we have. Ive never been able to level it out with any load yet. Not like those poor s-10s. A few heavy loads and they sag for good, and sag hard.

my 04 reg cab dak 4x2 would more than level out, I put my 350 pound quad in it and the headlights pointed to the skies! I hope my 06 doesn't have that problem!
