so i put on the jet chip. it took about 5 mins and i've had it in my closet for 4 months. kind of rediculous. but i finally manned up and filled 'er up with preimium and installed it. i dunno if i reset the ECU right or not... i left the negative off for like an hour then i turned they key, touched the positve and negative cables, pressed the brake in....then finally recconected it all and put the chip in. i didnt get a 'service engine light' which seems to happen a lot but my system took it fine. i dont know if its all in my head but shifting seems tighter...but i havnt relly DRIVEN it yet, plus im sure it needs time to make improvements. i will keep you updated that's all i relly got so far.
oh one more thing, i put brake cleaner all over my brakes and the squeak went away...so always try that before making it complicated...im relieved.

 

Cool, keep us updated. I am interested to see what you notice in the next few days/weeks. I am thinking of trying the JET chip, anyone have an opinion on what to expect from it? And will I need to always run premuim fuel?

 

it does work. it keeps the shift points better , it will hold them longer. it also improves with the a/c on.you will notice more off the line grunt. on the highway it will improve passing. and cruising speeds wont fall off while going up a small incline.

 

How much of an effect does the JET chip make on a manual tranny Dak? Does it mess with anything other than the shift points?

 

hey superdak did you have any fitting problems? the actual plug in is too big it seems. my jet chip comes off at the slightest touch...u ever heard of somethin like that? i think its dangerous, i should tape it

 

look at your chip. where they pieced it together there maybe some silicone around were it clips into just take a sharp knife and trim it back. should push right in until it clips in place then clip the original harness in.

 

So with the jet chip stage 1 do you need to use 93? or is that stage 2

 

u only use 91 without stage 2. all i have in moterey is 91. 87, 89, 91. i would havta buy octane booster otherwise.
anyways i used almost a 1/4 tank today ive been every where. i had a few tire spins for the first time ever. so im gonna havta say its helping.
also... theres no where for it to clip its just so loose on the ECM board i dont get it...so im taping it up for now and calling jet sometime during the week.
as for gas mileage i cant help anyone there...my first couple tanks im driving hard to get my computer to learn it fast. then i will check the gas mileage with premium fuel and a chip.
in case you dont know (since my new sig is a picture and not my MODs) I have the 180 thermo, K&N intake, flowmaster super40 single in dual out the side, synthetic engine oil, premium gasoline,and stage 2 chip.
my next performance mod is gonna be in the fall...because im doing my sound system, windows, and tires first. it will be a black magic fan with control.

 

heres the pic of the chip. on the top that plugs into the pcm there should be a clip. and it should go in easily and clip into place.
