i never trusted a bumper hitch before. just doesnt seem right. i always went with the aftermarket hitch. any place that sells trailers should be able to help you out. and wiring is simple if you get the type that just splices into the original harness.

yeah dodge will charge you up your butt and outta ur ears for that stuff...i was quote $150 just for the wiring and installation from dodge.
I was quoted$500 - $600for the trailer, harness and installation.

I am not paying some idiot $100 an hour to turn a wrench...
amen brother! GIT-R-DONE!

can the v8 dakota tow a car and a enclosed trailer? i was going to rent a drive up trailer from u haul for $50 a day, or borrow my friends drive up enclosed trailer(like those ones the lawn companys have for cars)....im just not sure if that might be too much for this truck or not...he has a ram and its fine for him, but is it for a dakota?

I haven't put a receiver hitch on mine yet because I don't need to pull more than a 1000lbs, but I did put the wiring on. I can't remember the name of the wiring, but I bought it off Ebay for $20 from someone who has an Ebay store. It's just a Y-connector, just plug each end into the light, then plug the factory end into that.

By the way, those two loops in your pic are where you hook your trailer chains.

so a twenty foot enclosed trailer and a car (aprox. 4000lbs) is fine for these trucks? im just worried since i got the bolt on valley hitch like the one described on the article...at it says something about 5000lbs for trailer max weight and 7000 or so with weight distribution

as long as you dont have too much weight on the front it should be ok just take it easy. with my chevy and that flatbed the weight was probably somewhere around there
