06 exhaust questions
I searched through the forums and didnt see any answers so I thought I would ask away.
I have a 2006 dakota quad cab AWD with the 4.7HO and looking at adding an exhaust system. So for I added a K&N cold air intake.
Am looking at three different systems, two from Gibson and one from Magnaflow. The Gibson are both stainless one is the single outlet system, the other is the single in dual out both pipes exiting behind the tire on the right side.
Am wondering if there are any pros/cons vs the single and dual systems. Would the single outlet provide a better low end performance? Does anyone know if the dual system allows you to keep the spare tire?
The other system is from Magnaflow which is a single outlet also in stainless. How does the Magnaflow compare with the Gibson single?
Thanks for any help...Eric

i have the imco 3 inch single catback and the low end grunt is fantastic. also i wanted the si/do but because of the towing package and spare tire it would have caused some problems.
Honestly I would just get the muffler you want and have a local shop install it for you. You can get it exactly how you want and you'll save some money.

I actually ended up running a 2.5 inch straight pipe and put in the factory resonators...
but as far as a pre-fabbed system. I like the gibson side swept singles. I dont think the dual out will hurt performance at all, but I just like a single out I guess. personal preference.
But in all honesty, I'd have a shop do it. it will end up being cheaper or just as expensive and you dont have to do the work :-D

ex: i have corsa tips and just ordered a borla muffler...now, by the time i have it installed, i will spend about $400....if i were to buy the corsa exhaust "package" for any other vehicle (they dont make one for the dak) it would be over 1k....also, do your research and look around for deals on what you really want....by doing that i will have saved between $250-$300 on my tips and muffler alone (and i purchased both new in box which both weren't blems)

thats a good point, You can usually find a great deal on line and have a shop make it work with all the right parts. Plus they can use stainless and bend pipes to work with almost anything you want. (say a spare tire maybe
)
)
talkin of stainless, im havin a hard time findin a shop that uses stainless, everyone uses fin aluminized (idk what the dif is between that and polished alum)

Well, a stick (10 footer) of steel costs around 26 bucks here. and Stainless costs around 50... I havent priced aluminum though... none of the shops around here have it. (I was and still am looking for some. I have a turbo that will need intake pipe and exhaust pipe...)
