Default Tint Help

Okay so I really want to tint my windows on the 4th ... I've pretty much got all day assuming I can find the stuff I need... so I need alot of info from you guys...

1) What brand of tint is good and where can I get it?

2) Does anyone know what % is legal in michigan on the Front windows (both front driver/passenger and windshield)?

3) How do I actually cut/apply the tint?

4) Can I tint over the factory tint on the rear sides and rear window?

5)I have the rear window defroster, I vaguely remeber someone saying how to tint over the defroster pattern on the window, so I'm wondering how to tint over it instead of just around it?

6) How do I remove the rear head rests in the club cab?

7) What tools to I need?

Please help... ASAP so I can get it done wensday while my rents are gone :-D

1.) Not really sure what's good but I've heard Gila tint sucks.

2.) http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/MI/

3.) I have a few friends that tinted their own vehicles, they cut it with a razor knife and sprayed water with a little soap on the window before placing the tint on. Allowed them to slide the tint to where it needed to be and when it dries the tint sticks (that's what my friend told me). He also said he smoothed out the bubbles with a credit card

4.) Yeah, lots of people have done it, I know Frenchy has.

5.)
Will tint damage my rear defroster? No your rear defrost will work as if there was no tint ever applied. We tint over all the defrost lines and you can use them as soon as you get your vehicle back from the install.

From: http://www.tntwindowtint.com/faqs.htm

6.) Download the service manual from the link in one of the stickys. That will have diagrams and instructions for removing the interior.

7.) I would guess at the minimum: razor knife, credit card or squeegee, spray bottle, some screwdrivers...

Edit: Of note for #5, DO NOT CUT THE DEFROSTER LINES! I would recommend sizing it up against the window then somehow marking it and cutting it on a table or something, cutting it on the window you risk cutting the defroster lines and ruining the defroster.

Front windows = NO TINT allowed in Michigan..

Tinting is easy.... just takes time....

You can tint over the rear windows, it's just tinted glass.... same as the fronts, just darker...

rear headrest removal, I agree to dl the service manual... I took mine out, and they werent that hard....

As for the rest, I'm too tired to help anyways...

hhehehe

Or you can do like I did in my gallery.... and "tint" the OUTSIDE of the window, for measurements, without peeling the clear backing off, then cut to size, apply inside, re-trim to get a closer fit, then apply for good....

when it comes to the rear windows, if you havent dont it before, you might want to remove your rear headrests...the guy that did mine lifted the bottom cushion up which actually moves the headrests away from the window a few inches and he had plenty of room to work with...

Yeah I've never tinted anything before... hey I just thought of another qeustion.... when I do tint the rear window with the defroster pattern... do I just tint over the defrost pattern... or do I cut out the defrost pattern into the tint and place the tint around the defrost pattern?
