Default Noise...

Okay so I've noticed lately that when I turn my wheels either way moving or not moving I get a very faint noise... it almost sounds like a sqeaky rubbing noise... just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it... or has had a similar prob... I'm leary about taking my dak into the Dealer because of the aftermarket toys on it... I don't really care whether or not it voids my warrenty... I just know my parents would kill me if they found out it voids my warrenty... so I'd rather not take the dak in... any help would be much appreciated!

they can only deny you service if they can prove a certian mod you did caused your truck to malfunction (the reason you brought it in)...its the law

I think its coming from the drivers side wheel... my only thought is it might be the steering column... I'll get a pic of what I'm talking about and post it when I get home from work... in about an hour or two...

Okay so heres what I think it might be... just a thought... I don't know much about cars/trucks so IDK just looks rusty to me and don't know if that could be causing the noise...

That looks to me like your steering linkage..get some PB Blaster from autozone/advance/pep boys where ever..spray liberally turn truck on and move steering wheel back and forth then stpray again...try not to get that much on the headers. (wd 40 has water in it :-) didnt know that did ya)

wd40 is a water displacement agent

straight from wd40s site
What does WD-40 contain?
While the ingredients in WD-40 are secret, we can tell you what WD-40 does NOT contain. WD-40 does not contain silicone, kerosene, water, wax, graphite, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), or any known cancer-causing agents.
http://www.wd40.com/Brands/wd40_faqs.html

bet you didnt know that, did you?

I can't imagine that would make your "rubbing noise". That'd be more of a squeak.
