FOR ANY dakota owner i would recommend doing the flowmaster 40 series and have it exit out right in front of the passenger rear tire! looks hot and it sounds alot better! plus people are behind you or beside you and can't see your exhaust in front of your rear tire they are goin to be like "where the **** is his exhaust" and I put a 40 series on mine and i had a new 2007 ZO6 owner heard my exhaust when i floored it next to him pull up to me and had me roll my window down and was like "damn that sounds better than my vette! can you do my exhaust like that" lol i told him to write the number down on the sticker on the window for the shop and he'll do it....a week later he had a 40 series on his and it sounded nasty! so yeah we inspire the true sounds that a V8 should make!

Man, that Vette owner must have been smoking some good drugs... I've heard the Z06 in person and there is no way a 40 series on a Dak (or any setup I've heard on the 4.7 so far) sound better than the Vette. Probably the closest one I'd put near the Z06 for sound is NightRunner's with his Borla muffler (it'd sound even better if you'd take off the other resonator NR).

Oh they're pretty mellow at idle but have you heard them opened up at the higher rpms? It's a beautiful sound. Also the stock exhaust on the Z06 is made of titanium (from just before the rear axle and back), tuned for a sound unique to the Z06 and very low flow restriction, and weighs 50% less than a steel system so he probably lost performance by putting the Flowmaster on.

Hey guys. I don't think this has been addressed on here already, so I'll drop it in here... I have an '06 quad cab 4x4 with the 4.7 and a stock exhaust. It sounds like a damn Toyota Camry. I don't want to / don't have the funds to do a full blown new exhaust.

How about cutting the resonators or the muffler off and replacing with pipe?

Has anybody done this?

Would doing one be better than the other?

Is this even a wise idea?

Thanks!

Wow, a thread from 2007. You would probably get a lot more response by creating a new thread. As you see from finding this 07 thread, we have a lot of exhaust threads.
