My first time driving a standard was on a friend's 1st gen dak, piece of cake, never stalled it (till we ran out of gas but that wasn't my fault, he didn't tell me the gauge was broken). My second standard was my gsr teg, stalled that quite a few times till I got the hang of it, she was very touchy...

I learned standard on an old '87 Dodge Ram 50...thing had well over 200,000 miles at that point, still ran really well. That was my dad's truck--I've owned three standard transmission vehicles, the Dakota being the third. After all these years, I'm pretty good at it....rarely stall unless I'm trying to finesse it into a tight spot in reverse.
