Wow my first time driving a stick shift was the day I bought my Pathfinder (back in 1996)....drove it home with never driving one before....never stalled it. I was quite proud of myself!!

I've driven all kinds of standards, but I've owned two and I enjoyed them, but the truck made me fatigue.

My first time driving a standard was on a friend's 1st gen dak, piece of cake, never stalled it (till we ran out of gas but that wasn't my fault, he didn't tell me the gauge was broken). My second standard was my gsr teg, stalled that quite a few times till I got the hang of it, she was very touchy...

I learned standard on an old '87 Dodge Ram 50...thing had well over 200,000 miles at that point, still ran really well. That was my dad's truck--I've owned three standard transmission vehicles, the Dakota being the third. After all these years, I'm pretty good at it....rarely stall unless I'm trying to finesse it into a tight spot in reverse.

Only thing that really sucks with manual is parallel parking on a steep hill, especially if the spot was tight...
