Curious
I've been reading alot of the threads here and most everyone has an opinion about the good/bad gas mileage of our trucks. I'm a little bit curious as to some people wanting to mod out their truck to GAIN gas mileage. Did anyone here really actually buy their truck for the reason to get good gas mileage or assume that they would reguardless of the mods or lack their of? I mean I can imagine if you had a 1 or 3/4 ton with a 6.0L engine and downsizing for better gas mileage, but come on did you really expect to get 20-22mpg in town and30 on the highway? I'm not trying to **** anyone off, I promise, but I am truely curious if there arealot of owners that were expecting that.
I was driving a GMC Canyon with quite a few problems, that got only 13 mpg...while I was getting a new truck for better fuel economy, I mostly was after one that could manage to climb hills when empty.
I was strictly looking to find a new truck that I can 1) put all three boys in the back seat 2) be able to haul things (nothing too heavy) 3) something under $18K brand new. I knew I wasn't going to get great gas mileage but I did accomplish all three of my goals. And, don't hold this against me, I was driving an 05' Chevy Aveo[:'(]crappiest car I've ever been in!! I would have kept the GSR at least for a fun toy!! Mb, how far are you from Franklin/Oil City area? Almost moved up there a couple of years ago, beautiful place!!

to be honest, I dont care about econmy all that much. I want to be able to pull a trailer and move stuff around. Now that I look back at it though, I didnt expect as good of mileage as I am getting. I am happy wiht what I have.
I am considering picking up a cheap little car for work though. not because of mileage, but I dont want to keep putting on 350 to 400 miles a week on the truck. (maybe go with a neon or something... anything but honda. lol)

my fullsize and dakota get the same gas mileage. i was averg. 400 miles on my ram and get about 380 on my dak. now mind you the ram had a 26 gallon tank and the dak 22.so yea i am getting better mileage
I'm not sure. Somewhere between 3-4 hours probably...I think that's in the western part of the state. I'm about 30 minutes east of Harrisburg in south central PA. To us, western PA is almost a different state.

I would have kept the GSR too but with 210k miles on it plus the guy who had it before me beat on it pretty hard it just wasn't as reliable as it could have been. When she was running good though, ho man did that thing go... Besides I missed having 4wd and actually being able to go places in more than 2in of snow (when the teg turned into a snowplow, lol).
my truck before this was a 79 chevy k-10 with 4" lift and 33's with a built all forged 350sbc and a turbo350 with shift kit and high performance clutches. I upraded x2 on mileage. I also wanted to have something with a/c. so I won with both things
