Winter tires

RE: Winter tires
Ya, Curtis, I have 20s...
And 16s on my Destinations...
My school town has like 75% grade hills (overkill ya, but trying to get the point across here) and I ride up and down the hills all day with the Destinations..
Most the time I'm in 2WD but for a few times, I need 4WD. haha
I'd look into em dude, they aren't overly expensive, and if need be, you can get them siped... or however you spell it.... get them siped really well...
My dad runs an M/T tire that has about 1/2 - 3/4 sipes in it and his truck grips like no other!
I also average about 9mpg in the winter in that town...
And I have no weight in the rear at all... I just like sliiiiiiiiiding!

RE: Winter tires
Brewer Bob... I'm just looking for winter tires... I have a set of summer tires already in mind... and the BFG A/T although technically not winter tires are rated well for the winter conditions if you look at the scoring provided by tire rack at the bottom of page you posted the link to
Frenchy... I have no clue what sipeing or w/e is... or getting a tire siped ...

RE: Winter tires
my best friend has a z71 with some BFG TAKOs and my dad got some toyo open country a/t's on his f250. when it was time for my buddy to replace the tako's, he decided to go with the toyo open country a/t's after seeing them on my dads truck. says it handles a lot better in weather conditions, there is less road noise (which i can verify that) and he likes the look of them better.
man, so many options, idk what im going to do when it comes that time, but i do know, when i get new tires, a leveling kit is goin on...am i correct, or wrong when i say i think i remember reading we can have a 31 without rubbing?

"These Generals are the best tires I've ever had on my Corolla wagon. It handles better than a Porsche 911 now."
I made that up but if you look long enough and hard enough you WILL find a comment or 3 like that. Some of the guys actually compare tires with their previous and have Autocrossing or some real world comparison. Not just comparing Eagles to Generals. Eagles may be good but they aren't the best. Remember I'm coming from the econo-sedan-sport segment.
As for using A/Ts in the winter, why would you? The ONLY reason to have summer tires and winter tires is to get the very best of both worlds otherwise just get one set of all seasons. If you are going to compromise with winters then I hate to even ask what you picked for summers.
You only have 4 small patches of rubber keeping you in contact with the road. Those 4 patches have to turn and stop a 4700 lb truck. Never accept an inferior tire.
Tires are one of my few passions. /End of soapbox/
