And when I wanna pass, if I'm doing 55 or so, I'll throw it in 3rd gear, and get up to about 70 then shift into 6th. :-)
I used to throw it in 2nd in that situation and redline it at 68 then shift up to 3rd Sadly I have an auto now...

thats the only real upside to a manual! you can shift at higher RPMS w/o the computer shifting for you!

All fuel injection cars hesitate, my favorite for throtle responce has been the 454 850cfm bbc drag car and my old k-10 with the 350 and 750cfm carb
