Guys with hard covers...
Ok guys, I am looking into a hard cover. I love my soft tonneau but, I want to go with a hard cover. I have been looking at the leer 700's but the price around me is a bit (way) steep. The cheapest I have found is around 1300 (not installed) I am wondering what you guys ended up paying for your covers... because I have the feeling that M.T.A. is tearing my face off... any info is appreciated.

the leer is expensive as it is. 1300.00 should include the installation. i paid 1100.00 for my a.r.e. fiberglass installed. also forget about the 700 series. look into the 800 series. a better cover. i went with the a.r.e only because the 800 was not out yet. look up killam truck mart in east windsor, ct. i beleive the website comes up bargain news or something similar. they have a site when you can check out your truck with the leer or a.r.e. cover. they sell both. and thats were i purchased mine from.

yeah, the only reason I didnt look into the 800 series is because I was quoted 1800 plus install... I get the feeling Michigan Truck Acc. is ripping me off... I might look around to see if there is another place around here that does the fiberglass covers... Thanks for the heads up superdak.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats some serious cash for what you are buying. The cover is just a large fiberglass cover with some mounting hardware and hinges. when you compare it to a topper (or cap) which includes glass, interior lighting, break lights and alot more storage with optional rack for 1450 the covers seem like a rip off. I know that they offer some extra security vs a soft tonneau and looksweet but I just think that (1800 plus install or even 1300 is too much, 1100 is the ball park you should shoot for installed. This was just my 2 cents and I know we all value things different so good luck, I'm sure it will be sweet when done.

I just bought the A.R.E 'Z' series cap for the truck
Cap $1695.00
Yakima Roof Rack $350.00
Taxes $175.00
Total $2,220.00
This included installation, a thick rubber (not foam) 'gasket' to go between the cap and the rail, freetilt down front window, and freeinterior fold-away clothes rod.
If you go to the LEER or A.R.E site, there areusually coupons of some sort.Either $ off of a certain model or free upgrades....

id rather have my 700 series than the 800 series. imo, it flows better with the truck, i like the handle rather than what comes on the 800 sereis, and you can get many of the same options, so idk what the "forget about the 700 series" crap is about.
mine is hardwired into my passanger locks, its got the logo pull down strap, interior liner matches my bedrug perfect (you can choose from different colors), interior release latch, light, finished edges, the structure is the same as the 800, you can get the upgraded hinges if desired, the lock cabels are hidden. the only thing you get with the 800 is a low profile which, imo (not trying to bash) doesnt flow as well as the 700 series.
i know you know how good it looks from the exterior, so i wont post pics of that, but here is it open, which im sure youve seen
