Default new guy with a question

Hey All!!

New guy here. Probably getting a Dakota in the Spring, and my wife is pregnant. I really like the look of the extended cab, but was curious about whether a rear facing child seat will fit in the extended. I assume it wil fit in the quad, but money is always a consideration. The search didn't yield much, does anyone here know for sure based on personal experience? If it matters, my wife and I are 5'3" and 5'4", respectively.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Jason

idk man, but ill tell you this. my 1st truck was a reg cab ram, and my new truck is a 4 door dakota. i will never own another reg cab (or extended for the matter). i do love my truck, but i do miss the sheer size of a full size and the extra space that comes with the full size. our trucks do have more room than other midsized trucks however. either way, thats just my 2 cents and i hope you the best in finding what suits your needs. and congrats on the pregnancy!

I have 06 ext cab and have had a childs seat in the back behind me and
still had a lil room. Im 5" 4" and my truck has bucket seats. You might want
to take a childs seat with you to a dealer and check it out for yourself.

get a quadcab. The club cab I think would be way too small if you got a little bundle of joy on the way lol. That's actually one of the reasons why I bought a QC; I plan on keeping the truck long enough to get married and start a family...so, my humble opinion is that it'd be more comfortable and easier, and safer.

There is an anchor in the center back of the club cabs for some kind of child seat, not sure what will fit there though. Your best bet would be to take the seat with you when you try the truck and make sure it fits.

Thanks for the quick replies!! I've got a regular cab Sonoma now, so either one will be much bigger. I was planning on taking a child seat with me, but wanted to know if anyone here had tried it and was totally out of luck. It looks like I've got a shot. Thanks again, and I'm sure I'll be asking tons of questions as I go along.

The Quad cab has brackets built in to the seat to anchor child seats. You'll get your money's worth out of a Quad cab for sure. You are going to need that extra room. Good luck and best wishes!

I have the 05 club cab and wished I would have gotten the quad cab. I had my 4 year old niece in my truck once and because of her age she had the bigger car seat and she didn't feel comfortable sitting in the back. I ended up taking out the rear seats because they are useless. If you can definetly try to get a quad cab.

I have an '06 club cab. I have a 2-1/2 yr old and she fits fine. However, the quad cab would be a better choice for a number of reaso, the first being ease of access and the second, room. Don't ge me wrong, I love my truck, but when she turns 4 or 5, it will be a b snug. I am glad my wife has a 4 door sedan. The next truck will definately be a quad cab. By that time, it will be the only option for me.

I had no problem taking my brother in my Club Cab. His car seat fits back there just fine. Like the other guys are saying though, try it out for yourself. I personally think club cabs look better than quad cabs. Sure you get more space with a quad cab but its also quite a bit more expensive. My club cabs seems pretty useful being as it has opening extended cab doors. Best of luck to you.
