If you don't mind saying why are you reinstalling the mechanical one?
I kinda don't like the idea that if I continue having my overheat problem that if I take it to the dealer they cant say anything about it being the fan...I can tell you this though the AC is alot colder with the fan on...I will let you know when I get rid of it.

I have the electric fan from the taurus dual speed. I think my major problem was that i was running it on high through a cheap thermostatic switch with maybe 16 guage wire...This morning I put 10 gauge wire bypassing the switch and just hooking it to 12 accesory on the truck. I drove about 4 hours today on the highway and in town and no problem...I still feel more comfortable with the mechanical fan in case of any issues so that i can take it to the dealer and not get **** about it.

I hate to say it, but 16ga wire is not even close to thick enough for that application... 12-10 is more like it, these electric fans are capable of pulling upto 35 amps, with a constant draw of around 13-15 (on the black magic fans) The ford fans pull even more at high setting... I would like to see what it does now that you have upgraded the wire. also parking it will be the true test. driving will help cool it.
