Some of that MPG gain could be explained by your engine being broken in further, too. Not sure how many miles you have, but that could be it, too. I think the gains from any cap or tonneau are fairly minor. With a cap, if you have one that has a raised area near the tailgate (the roofline of the cap goes higher than the roofline of the truck), you can actually get worse MPGs....found that out the hard way with my old truck.

Well I have just over 21, 000 miles on it... put the tonneau on after about 13,000 miles and bought the truck used with 12k on it... so I'm pretty sure the engine was decently broken in before I put the tonneau on.

Fair enough. I couldn't remember how old your truck was...

LOL no problem... I think I come off too snippy sometimes... but yeah its an 06... I got it used in March with 12k on it and I got it for 14k out the door.

Nah, you weren't too snippy....sometimes it's hard to gauge attitude when you've only got someone's writing to read..

That wasn't a bad deal for a slightly used SLT.

Not at all Great Deal especially since it was an SLT with a 6-SPD, Tow prep package, under the rail bedliner, and a clean carfax... :-D

You suck!! Mine's an '06 ST (no L), auto, V6 and it was $17,900. Only 5900 miles tho but that isn't enough to make up for it.

2 before and 2 after... 1 of each driving nice... (16mpg before 16.5mpg after) and 1 of each driving like I stole the truck...the way I like it (15mpg before 15.8mpg after)... plus I monitor tanks every once and a while afterwards... now I'm avging about 16.3mpg... not a big diff but still
What?!!? 16.5mpg driving like Miss Daisy and 15mpg with your foot stuck in it? I've been babying mine. If the difference is only 1.5mpg, I need to quit sitting behind soccer mommies in their Exploders.

I do take the traffic circles fairly hard tho. The mommies are all freaking out when they hear the tires squealing!!

Oh, and mine is a quad 4x4 instead of extended 4x2 so I guess that's a good bit of the difference in price.

$3,000...that's roughly what I was figuring as the difference when I bought my 4x2...I couldn't afford the difference...plus I used the 4x4 feature of my old truck twice in two years...wasn't worth it either.

Well I coulda got a nice red truck like frenchy's for a grand more...but the only options it had was 6-spd manny V6, AC, and 4X4... and it was an ST... no bed liner, no nothing... and it cost more... I don't need to have a 4x4... so I went with my current truck... and those were they only two manny daks I could find...without buying a brand new one or a 2nd gen...
