new tires finally..
yaaay i finally get to use the military benefits for once! they are giving me an interest free loan on new tires because mine had the wire bands sticking out...NOT good. so i got a temporary fix and now today im ordering the firestone destination MT's. i'll be in nebraska next year sol i wanted some snow/mud tires. tire rack says they are the best in their class because of on-off road capabilities. anyways what do you guys think? but most importantly.. what did we agree the biggest size we can go is without rub?? was it 265 75 r16 or bigger?
M/T is a more aggresive type of tire than A/T, they probably won't get the same mileage but they should have better grip, especially in mud or nasty conditions.
sorry i used to like bfg's but they arent that great. i did research and they are poorly rated next to other tires in that class, and more speciffically ive found multiple times that they run out of tread fast. these MT's are rated high in rain and dry road too so im happy with them.
Geez, I don't see any siping on those tread (pic on tirerack). I wonder how they'll actually hook up in the snow. Mud yes, snow, not so sure....Good looking tire but I wonder how they'll do in the real world as opposed to a A/T..
Yea 265/75 are quite a bit bigger. They could rub though. Mine never rubbed on full turn, but I think they rubbed a tiny bit when the suspension was at full squat...which is hardly ever.

I really like them. But I got them in the spring, so no winters yet. I am moving to the Chicago area soon, so I will try them out on the upper midwest winters now! But dry and wet, they've never let me down. Much more confident than the Eagle LS's that the truck came with. Road noise minimal. Curb appeal maximal. 265/70R16 is the size I went with. No rubbing issues.
